Four scouts of 1st Owlsmoor recently took part in the annual Three Towers Hike, a tough 26 km hiking challenge around the West Berkshire hills. The team carried out a whole weekend of training two weeks before the actual hike, and over the training weekend clocked up a total of 34 km, hiking from Pangbourne to Compton. On the day of the event, the team set off from Pangbourne at 9.20 am, and finished at Compton Scout Hut 7 hours 34 minutes later. This is no mean achievement as they had to carry a large day sack with all their spare clothing, waterproofs, food & water, and for some of the scouts it was the first time that they had walked the distance with full rucksacks. The team showed great team spirit, and helped each other out when they were getting tired towards the end.
